Introduction
June was a busy month! The triathlon season is in full swing with races almost every weekend. With racing, comes bike maintenance. Alberto with Bikanics gave us tips and tricks at our Bike Clinic. The clinic presentation is available here. Don't forget - members receive discounts with Bikanics and Bike Minded Guru.
To the new members, and a reminder for our existing members, be sure to take advantage of all the perks you receive as an active HRTC member. Check out the Local Race Calendar for races in the Houston area. Race/Event discounts are available here - be sure to check the list before registering! This month the team tent will be up at the Cypress triathlon - feel free to leave your bags there and grab some beverages and shade after.
The Memorial Trail Run was on Wednesday, July 8 from Memorial Trail Ice House. The Gait Anaylsis Clinic with Dr. Amber Lowe of Performative PT is on Thursday, July 30 at ENDVR Active Gym.

Hydration: Beat the Heat
Summer has officially hit Houston and these temperatures are no joke. Hydrate early and often before races and workouts. Be sure to have a hydration plan during your workout - know how much you need and where you can refill/replace. Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and be sure to lookout for yourself and those around you.
Not sure how much to drink? Do an at-home sweat test to calculate your sweat loss. These links are examples of how to do that from Precision Hydration adapted from My Sport Science.
